Andrew King (aged 18) begins repairing outdoor gear

Aiking Equipment Repairs repairs rucksacks and sleeping bags

starts business with borrowed sewing machine above Mountain Designs retail shop in Melbourne

1988

designs and makes own Aiking packs

sells repair business to Remote Equipment Repairs to concentrate on pack production

1993

moves to factory space in Flemington, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, as Aiking Pty Ltd

1995

merges with Adventure Designs, Melbourne-based importer and wholesaler of sleeping mats, tents

1997

On 1 October merges with New Zealand company One Planet (originally Australian based J&H Adventure Wear)

Merged business takes on new name of Adventure One Pty Ltd

2000

Adventure One restructured.

manufacturing arm in New Zealand is sold

trademarks of of the old Adventure Designs products 'EarthMat' and 'Mozzie Dome' are sold

One Planet clothes, bivvy bags, and tents no longer produced or distributed

New 'rubberised' style oval logo introduced

2004

On 24 November, factory destroyed by fire resulting from electrical fault

fire occurs on Andrews King's birthday and one week after his daughter's birth

12 December. Contract for new (and present factory in Sunshine, Melbourne) signed.

30 December. First cutting of new product begins

2005

May. First post fire product made available

October. full One Planet line back in retails stores post fire.

participates in a federak government green business program and factory/office goes carbon neutral
